This is a rare and very special opportunity to ride Uganda on a GS.
Immerse yourself in all that this great country has to offer. Riding into the wild by day on beautifully prepared BMWs along some of the best biking routes of Africa and amongst spectacular scenery, people and wildlife. Relax by night in the wild, camping under the stars with our amazing support vehicle – but with a lodge night here and there to recharge.

Lodge at Via Via
Meet and greet over breakfast at Via Via with briefing and bike issue. Suit up for mid-morning departure.
Short ride to the bustling Nakiwogo Fishing Village. Ferry across Buku Bay – a great start to any African adventure.
Continue by track and road to the Equator. Stop on the Equator for lunch.
On to Lake Mburo National Park. Game ride into the park with a first taste of African wildlife: zebra, impala, waterbuck, warthog and perhaps giraffe. Lake Mburo is also one of the best places in Uganda for leopard if we are lucky.

Camp at Lake Mutanda
Early morning game ride at Lake Mburo around some of the favourite waterholes to see what we can see.
Ascend to Kazuma Lookout for a support truck brunch with spectacular views over the lakes below.
Depart Lake Mburo, heading into the hills and volcanoes of south-west Uganda. Breathtaking lakeside trail at Lake Bunyonyi followed by mountain pass to Kisoro.
Camp breakfast. Morning excursion at Lake Mutande, decide as a group – either community visit and coffee tour; boat trip on Lake Mutande or ride some of the trail around Lake Mutande.
Return over mountain pass, stopping for support truck lunch at viewpoint. Continue on forest trail into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – otherwise known as “jungle” and home to the mountain gorillas.
Perhaps take an extra day here and do a trek to see the mountain gorillas? – or go whitewater rafting through the jungle on the Birira River?

Camp by Lake George
Suit up after breakfast and continue on forest and savanna trails to the Kazinga Channel at the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Keep an eye out for wildlife on this trail often including elephant, buffalo and various antelopes. If lucky, perhaps the famous tree climbing lions in the trees near the track.
Rest up for lunch at the boat dock.
Afternoon trail ride to see the elephants at Katwe on Lake Edward, followed by a visit to the salt pans at Lake Bunyampaka.
Early breakfast and collection by safari vehicle for dawn game drive in the nearby Kasenyi Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Great time of day to see a wide range of wildlife including elephant, buffaloes, hippos, Uganda kob and waterbuck. Perhaps to see lions on the hunt and, if lucky, a leopard.
Return to camp to collect the bikes and ride to the boat dock on the Kazinga Channel for a boat safari. This is a great place to see elephant and buffalo watering on the banks, aquatic life and birds everywhere.
Ride up the Rift Valley escarpment and on to the Twin Crater Lakes at Kichwamba for a truck lunch at the viewpoint. Short trek and relaxing afternoon by the lakes.

Lodge at Murchison River Lodge
Early breakfast. Suit up and depart Kichwamba heading north for a long road ride to Murchison Falls National Park.
Photostop as we recross the Equator, then ride along the base of the Rwenzori Mountains – the fabled “Mountains of the Moon” and home to six of Africa’s highest peaks.
Early lunch at Fort Portal. Continue to Murchison Falls National Park via scenic views of Lake Albert.
Breakfast at the lodge. Leave the bikes and transfer by safari vehicle to the Nile boat dock.
Morning boat safari on the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Hippos in the water – elephant, buffalo, perhaps giraffe and huge Nile crocodiles on the banks – and a birder’s paradise.
Transfer to the famous Paraa Lodge for lunch and relax by the pool in the midday sun.
Afternoon game drive on the vast savanna plains of Murchison. Ugandan kob, Jackson hartebeest, oribi, warthog, buffalo, elephant and giraffe. Head through the hunting grounds for a good chance to see lion and perhaps leopard, and on down to the Nile Delta at Lake Albert.
Set up camp and relax for a while, then head out on an evening and night game safari, especially targeting lion and leopard. Return through the wilderness in the dark to the camp site.

Camp on the Nile, the Haven
Early breakfast. Dawn game drive back into the hunting grounds, perhaps to start off where we finished the night before.
Return to Murchison River Lodge. Collect the bikes and ride to Murchison Falls for a short trek at the top of the falls. Feel the power and stand in the spray of the world’s most powerful waterfall.
Depart Murchison Falls NP and head to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for lunch and a walk with the rhinos. If we have been lucky, this should now complete the “Big Five”. This is a fantastic experience to get up close to these fabulous creatures and learn about this inspirational programme to reintroduce the white rhino into the wilds of Uganda.
Ride on towards Jinja.
Relaxing camp breakfast by the Nile. Suit up and ride into Jinja – like the great explorers of old – finally to sight the source of the Nile! Celebrate with lunch.
Afternoon return to Entebbe. Ride through the outskirts of Kampala and enjoy the traffic!
Drop off at Via Via. Bike inspection and return.
Final dinner and perhaps a night on the town?
