Uganda Is BIG!

Uganda has a total of 10 National Parks managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Combined, they cover an area of over 13,000 square kilometers – larger than Hawaii. In broad categories, there are 4 savanna parks, 3 mountain parks and 3 forest parks, each with diverse eco-systems and each playing a crucial role in conservation and to attract eco-tourism.

Here we focus on the 4 savanna parks of Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth, Kidepo Valley and Lake Mburo, as well as Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which could be described as both mountain and forest. This is not to detract from the quality of the other parks but mainly reflects that these more closely align with where and what we typically go and do. We offer ‘our take’ on each of these parks as well as information on location, wildlife and our preferred accommodation, be it camping or lodges.
